What is seizing light?
My name is Shivam Parikh, and here is a blog of mine about my experiences, and some of my own photography. As an avid nature and landscape photographer, I love the way that I can see the world in a different perspective through the lens of my camera. In addition to photography here, I will also be writing about my experiences around the world, and in life.
The title of the site refers to how a camera has the ability to seize the light of a particular moment in time, and save it as a snapshot of light and time. It also hints at how my experiences will seize the light and happiness of life and how I hope to write about such emotions.
Also, let me know if you have any questions about photography in general and manual techniques on your camera! I would be glad to help you out! Feel free to check out some of my other pictures on 500px. I can be found at: http://500px.com/shivamparikh16
Please purchase photos from there when they become available to support my other photography endeavors! Thanks in advance!

About me!
I am currently a high school student in California. My hobbies and interests include photography, dance, and computer science. I dance competitively in the field of Indian folk dance on the Sangeet Dance team. In regards to computer science, I enjoy programming and focus my efforts on Java programming with an emphasis on Android development.
About my camera
I use a Canon Rebel XTi. It has a 10.1 MP sensor, and I normally use it with three lenses: An 18-55mm EF-S kit lens, a 75-300mm EF kit lens, and a 650-1300mm Bower telephoto lens. The body has an ISO range from 100-1600, and a shutter speed range from 1/4000 second to 30 seconds, with bulb.
Personal Preference: I prefer to shoot in M (Manual Mode), and use auto white balance unless I am shooting extra creatively.
